Ocean Residences Development Ltd has appointed Francesca Muzio of the Italian design studio FM Architettura as the leading interior designer of the world’s largest private yacht, M / Y Njord. The studio’s co-founder will work closely with Espen Øino, the architect of this huge luxury residence. Together, their visions will reveal residences with the most outstanding specifications and finishes for an audience looking to immerse themselves in a different type of lifestyle and discover a home that has been individually designed in every detail.
Francesca will personally supervise the interiors of FM Architettura down to the smallest detail. Her custom design, along with a selection of prestigious luxury residences, will be the main feature of the main public and public areas of the yacht from deck 04 to deck 09. Francesca Muzio explains: “We will be designing all of our furniture for this project because with this type of yacht interior, proportions are crucial and the space to furniture ratio needs to be perfect and the balance between materials and atmosphere you create as a whole. “
He continued: “Our customers buy a house for life on board the M / Y NJORD, and the center of our inspiration is always the individual person, their emotional relationship with their house and their lifestyle. This sense of belonging as well as health, well-being and sustainability are the focus of our designs. The technology is of course built into the design and state-of-the-art facilities, but the real pillars of FM’s interior are the four classic elements. “Muzio described the inspiration for the interior decoration from the five elements“ earth, air, wind and fire ”.
“Earth for me is the use of wood in our designs, be it in bespoke furniture, flooring or structural partitions, and the air is the lightness in interiors created by the use of handcrafted carpets and bespoke woven textiles that embody the Eye for the design lead to space. The fire sets accents with tailor-made bronze furniture, glass or the lighting with which we underline the rooms. And finally: water. The all-important element in ensuring the flow and balance of design comes together in its entirety, as these are homes that need to have a sense of space. “
The charm and elegance of the interior are based on the exquisite proportions and the clarity of the design: pure architectural geometries, wide openings and breathtaking double heights that offer an unparalleled spatial quality that cannot be seen on a private super yacht.
Commenting on this important appointment, Jean-Louis Stutzmann, Chief Design Architect at Ocean Residences Development Ltd, said: “It is a great privilege to have Francesca and her team involved in this project. FM is a global leader in interior design, working with artisans to really bring a project to life. They keep raising the bar in design and with Francesca’s extensive experience they surprise and delight over and over again. ”
