Cirrus was a milestone in personal aviation and is best known for its SR series piston airplanes and the Vision Jet. The Vision jet changed the private jet space by making it more accessible and practical. The new generation of the Vision Jet G2 series builds on the strengths of its predecessor and increases cruising altitude, speed and range considerably.
It’s the world’s first single-engine private jet and features new technologies like autothrottle, flight stream connectivity, and more. It’s smaller, lighter, and more economical, so it also expands the private aviation category by making it more accessible. It may be the perfect private jet for first-time buyers.
The second generation of the G2 Vision jet goes higher, faster and further. An expanded flight envelope at flight level 310 (31,000 feet) further increases the attractiveness. The range of the Vision Jet is now over 1,200 nm. For example, on a typical flight on an 800 NM mission, the G2 can carry an additional 150 pounds and increase the top speed of the journey even further to over 300 kt.
There’s also an advanced flight deck with technology like Perspective Touch +, which offers faster processing speeds and higher screen resolution. There’s also an automatic throttle, which is a staple for high-end business jets, reducing the pilot’s work and allowing the pilot to focus on other duties. Further functions are 3D Synthetic Vision, SurfaceWatch, integrated crew alarms, data connection weather, active weather radar, ADS-B, satellite communication, system synoptics and more. Last but not least, the introduction of the “Safe Return” function is an automatic emergency landing system with which passengers can land the Vision-Jet with just one push of a button.
The activation button for safe return is located on the ceiling in the cabin of the Vision Jet and is easily accessible for passengers. If necessary, it can even be activated within minutes of the aircraft taking off. After activation at the push of a button, Safe Return takes control of the aircraft and transforms the Vision Jet into an autonomous vehicle that navigates to the nearest suitable airport for landing and communicates with air traffic control. It then lands and safely halts the aircraft so that passengers can exit the aircraft. For this function, the system uses all available aircraft data to calculate a flight plan, avoid terrain and weather, initiate an approach and perform a fully autonomous landing without the intervention of the pilot or passenger.
In private aviation, however, luxury cannot be overlooked, and this is where the second-generation model takes a bigger leap in terms of space and comfort. There is a new executive style seating position with two second row seats and a new center console. There are stowage tables as well, while the noise reduction has been increased. Passengers also get amenities like USB and 110V sockets, as well as a video monitor.
The Vision Jet received FAA certification in 2016 and has been shipped over 100 times worldwide. This makes it the private jet of choice in this time after the pandemic. With prices in excess of $ 2 million, the G2 Vision Jet continues the series’ popularity.
